On May 15, 2026, firefighters from multiple agencies responded to a wood chip silo at the Robbins Lumber in Searsmont, Maine.
During this fire, an explosion occurred and Assistant Chief Wayne Woodbury, from the Searsmont Fire Department, was injured. Chief Woodbury unfortunately passed away almost a month later on June 14, 2026, from the injuries he sustained from the explosion.
Our prayers and condolences go out to Assistant Chief Wayne Woodbury's family both at home as well as with the Searsmont Fire Department.
