Border Patrol Agent Sean M. McDonough - Department of Homeland Security - Customs and Border Protection

On May 1, 2026, Border Patrol Agent Sean M. McDonough (United States Border Patrol - Department of Homeland Security, was partaking in a marine unit training exercise in Alexandria, New York.

Unfortunately while participating in this training exercise, Agent McDonough suffered a medical emergency and passed away. 

Agent Sean McDonough began his United States Border Patrol (USBP) career in 2007 and most recently served at the Wellesley Island Border Patrol Station in the Buffalo Sector, New York. Over the course of his service, he also served at the Nogales Station and in the Houlton Sector. Prior to joining USBP, he honorably served in the U.S. Army, the Army National Guard, and as a Military Police Officer.

Agent Sean McDonough dedicated his life to serving his country and protecting the American people. Survivors include his wife, two daughters, parents, two sisters, grandmother, two nieces, and a nephew. Our deepest condolences go out to his family, friends, and fellow agents during this difficult time.
