Corporal Matthew Tyler "Ty" Snook - Delaware State Police - Delaware
Share
On December 23, 2025, at approximately 2:00 p.m., a man entered the DMV (Division of Motor Vehicles) facility in New Castle, Delaware.
Shortly after entering the building, the man approached Corporal Grade One Matthew Tyler "Ty" Snook, a Delaware State Trooper, from behind while he was at the reception desk and shot him. After pushing a DMV employee out of the way, Corporal Snook was shot again.
A responding New Castle County officer arrived at the scene and shot the male suspect. The suspect later died at an area hospital.
Corporal Snook was also transported to a hospital but unfortunately succumbed to his wounds.
It was Corporal Snook's day off and he was working at the DMV facility in an overtime position. He served the Delaware State Police for ten years. He is survived by his wife and a daughter. Our prayers and condolences to Corporal Snook's family both at home and with the Delaware State Police.
