Deputy Erika Serrato - Montgomery County Sheriffs Office - Texas
On June 28, 2026, at approximately 2:39 a.m., deputies from the Montgomery County Sheriffs Office (Texas) were dispatched to a multi-vehicle crash on Interstate 45 North near the Woodlands Parkway exit.
Deputies arrived and began investigating the crash which involved a DWI and they also began directing traffic to ensure the safety of those involved.
While working this scene, a heavy-duty commercial truck pulling a trailer struck Deputy Erika Serrato who was outside of her vehicle directing traffic. Two marked patrol vehicles with emergency lights activated were also struck.
Deputy Erika Serrato was transported to the local hospital and later succumbed to her injuries. Another officer sustained minor injuries from flying debris.
Deputy Serrato was 24 years old and was assigned to District 2. She had served the Montgomery Sheriffs Office for six years.
