Deputy Sheriff Christopher Ohlmeyer - Jefferson Parish Sheriff's Office - Louisiana

On January 30, 2026, at approximately 11:40 a.m., Deputy Christopher Ohlmeyer of the Jefferson Parish Sheriff's Office (Louisiana), was escorting a funeral service on Airline Highway in New Orleans.

As a member of the motor squad, Deputy Ohlmeyer was stopping traffic to allow for the funeral procession when he was struck by a vehicle from behind.  He succumbed to his injuries on scene.  The driver of the vehicle was taken to the hospital.  

Deputy Christopher Ohlmeyer had served with the Jefferson Parish Sheriff's Office for 15 years. Survivors include his wife and two children.  Our prayers and condolences to Deputy Ohlmeyer's family, both at home and with the Jefferson Parish Sheriff's Office.
