Deputy Sheriff Joshua Aaron Brashears - Jackson County Sheriff's Office - Mississippi

At approximately 5:30 a.m. on October 17, 2025, Deputy Sheriff Joshua Aaron Brashears of the Jackson County Sheriff's Office (Mississippi) was killed in a single-vehicle crash.

While driving on Highway 15, south of east McHenry Road, Deputy Brashears struck two horses on the dark road.  He was transported to the local hospital where he succumbed to his injuries.  

Deputy Brashears had served with the Jackson County Sheriff's Office for two years.  Prior to that, he had served 13 years with the Greenville County Sheriff's Office (South Carolina) as well as the Rangely Police Department (Colorado) for one year and the Garfield County Sheriff's Office (Colorado) for five years.  He was 45 years old and is survived by his son, daughter, parents and four siblings.  Our prayers and condolences to Deputy Brashears' family and partners.
