K9 Georgia - Dade County Sheriff's Department - Georgia

On July 13, 2025, K9 Georgia from the Dade County Sheriff's Office (Georgia), tragically passed away after being left unattended in her patrol vehicle. 

The heat index on this day ranged from 100 to 102 degrees.  K9 Georgia's handler had left her in the patrol car while inside the Dade County Sheriff's Office instead of taking her inside with him.  The air conditioning compressor in the patrol vehicle malfunctioned and ceased to operate.  On top of that, the heat alarm was not functioning. 

K9 Georgia only got to serve the Dade County Sheriff's Office for eleven months.  The sheriff's deputy that was assigned to K9 Georgia was fired.
