K9 Sissy - Georgia Department of Corrections - Georgia

On September 29, 2025, at approximately 4:49 a.m., K9 Sissy of the Georgia Department of Corrections was killed in the line of duty.

K9 Sissy and her K9 handler were stopped at a stop sign near Georgia 122 and Windmill Road in Ware County, Georgia.  While stopped at the intersection, their vehicle was struck from behind.  A truck had failed to stop, and the force of the impact flipped over the correction car multiple times.  

K9 Sissy's handler was transported to a local hospital with serious injuries.  K9 Sissy unfortunately died on the scene.
