Lieutenant Eddie Mays - Bernie Police Department - Missouri

On June 5, 2025, Lieutenant Eddie Mays, a 30 year police veteran with the Bernie Police Department, responded to a domestic assault in the City of Bernie, Missouri, at approximately 4:53 p.m. While arresting the domestic assault suspect, Lt Eddie Mays suffered a fatal heart attack.

The suspect was arrested and charged with domestic assault.

Lieutenant Eddie Mays was a United States Air Force veteran and served with the Bernie Police Department for 30 years. He is survived by his wife, two children, and eight grandchildren.  Our prayers and condolences to Lt Mays' family and his partners with the Bernie Police Department.
