At Blue Line Custom Gifts, we believe it is important to honor the first responders who have unfortunately given the ultimate sacrifice to keep communities safe. Unfortunately, 2025 has started off rocky and we have a feeling that it will be another tragic year.
Lieutenant Mark Meadows, of the Irondale Police Department in Alabama was the first officer killed in the line of duty in 2025. On January 6, 2025, shortly before 0700 hours, Lt Meadows was struck and killed by a motorist. Lt. Meadows had been directing traffic at Grants Mill Road and Overton Road in Irondale.
Just before getting struck, Lt. Meadows was putting out cones. He was transported to Grandview Medical Center where he succumbed to his injuries.
Lieutenant Meadows not only served the Irondale Police Department for 30 years, he was also a United States Army veteran. He had also previously served the the Mountain Brook Police Department. He is survived by his wife, children, and two grandchildren.
Our prayers and condolences for Lieutenant Meadows' family, friends and colleagues, as well as the community of Irondale. As part of our "Plaques for Heroes" campaign, we honored Lt. Meadows' service with memorial plaques for his family and his department.
