Master Trooper Steven J. Perry - North Carolina State Highway Patrol - North Carolina
During the early morning hours of March 1, 2026, Master Trooper Steven J. Perry of the North Carolina State Highway Patrol was involved in a fatal vehicle accident in Durham County.
While on patrol, Trooper Steven Perry was struck by a vehicle that was traveling in the wrong direction. Unfortunately, Trooper Perry and the driver of the other vehicle succumbed to their injuries.
Master Trooper Perry was a member of the 148th Basic Patrol School and has served Durham County throughout his nearly 7-year career. Our thoughts, prayers and condolences go out to Trooper Perry's family both at home and with his partners. This is the second loss of a North Carolina State Trooper in just over a week.
