Officer Brian Elliott - Beech Grove Police Department - Indiana

On February 16, 2025 at around 6:00 p.m., Officer Brian Elliott and another officer from the Beech Grove Police Department, Indiana, responded to a domestic disturbance at an apartment.  

When the officers approached the subjects, a man from inside the apartment fired shots at both officers before fleeing. Both officers were transported to Sidney and Lois Eskenazi Hospital.  Officer Brian Elliot succumbed to his wounds a few hours later.

Responding SWAT team officers took the suspect into custody around 10:17 p.m.

Officer Brian Elliott had served with the Beech Grove Police Department for over a year and previously served with the Marion County Sheriff's Office for four years. Survivors include his wife and parents.

As part of our "Plaques for Heroes" mission, engraved slate memorial plaques were sent to the Beech Grove Police Department and to Officer Brian Elliott's  family at no cost to honor his service and his sacrifice to the community of Beech Grove, Indiana. Our condolences to his family, his department and the community he served.
