Officer Henry Franklin - Sikeston Police Department - Missouri

On October 6, 2025, the tactical team serving the City of Sikeston, Missouri, was attempting to serve a warrant on County Road 408 in Mississippi County at approximately 7:30 p.m.
On that evening, Officer Henry Franklin and his tactical team was called to assist with serving a warrant linked to a homicide investigation from earlier in the day. When the team arrived at the home of the suspect and attempted to make contact, the suspect began firing at the officers from inside the home. Officer Henry Franklin was killed and the suspect continued to fire.
The suspect remained barricaded in the home for five hours and was later found dead from a self-inflicted gunshot wound.
Officer Henry Franklin was a United States National Guard veteran and had served with the Sikeston Department of Public Safety for over 12 years. He is survived by his wife and four children.
As part of our "Plaques for Heroes" campaign, engraved slate memorial plaques were sent to the Sikeston Police Department and to Officer Henry Franklin's family at no cost to honor his service and his sacrifice to the community of Sikeston, Missouri.
