Officer Lauren Craven - La Mesa Police Department - California

On October 20, 2025, Officer Lauren Craven, of the La Mesa Police Department (California) was struck and killed while assisting at a vehicle accident on Interstate 8 near Waring Road.  

At approximately 10:20 a.m., a car that had been traveling eastbound on I-8 struck another vehicle.  The vehicle flipped and was then hit by another oncoming vehicle.  Officer Craven stopped at the scene to render aid to a 19-year-old male when she and the man were struck by another vehicle.  

Despite performing life-saving measures, Officer Craven died at the scene.  The driver involved in the initial crash was also killed.  The man who hit Officer Craven was eventually arrested and charged with driving under the influence. 

Officer Craven was only 25-years-old and had served with the La Mesa Police Department for 1 year and 8 months.  She is survived by her parents, sister, and partner.  Our prayers for Officer Craven's family and her partners with the La Mesa Police Department.
