On 4/24/26, Reserve Deputy Constable Heather Avery, 48-years-old, from the Jefferson County Sheriff's Office (Texas) was killed in the line of duty while working off-duty to assist with traffic control in a work zone.
While assisting with the traffic control, Deputy Avery was in a marked squad with emergency lights activated. An 18-wheeler slammed into the back of her patrol vehicle. The crash had occurred on Interstate 10 near Winnie, Texas.
Our prayers and condolences to her family both at home and with the Jefferson County Sherrif's Office.
